ABOUT
I have a home in Oregon with vinyl siding. The siding gets mold on the north-facing side. And I have a compulsion to keep my property looking cared for. And I have a fear of heights. And I prefer to do my home & yard maintenance myself, rather than hiring it done.
I searched for recommendations about how to clean the siding. After trying many combinations of cleaning compounds, application methods, brushes & pads, I settled on a particular brand of purchased liquid cleaner. I applied the cleaner with a garden pump up sprayer and rinsed off with fresh water from a garden hose. No scrubbing. It worked like magic.
I soon realized that my method would not be effective on the most visible part of my home, the gable end above the 2nd story. I have a 28 foot extension ladder that reaches high enough. But climbing that high with 20 pounds of sprayer in one hand, a spray wand in the other, and no hands on the ladder, I was too paralyzed with fear to be effective.
I started experimenting with electric pumps & spray guns as a way to deliver the magic liquid cleaner to the peak of my gable end. After several years, thousands of dollars in components, and hundreds of hours of experiments, I have a product that will spray the liquid cleaner 36 feet high while I am standing on the ground. This is 7 feet above my gable end.
I will claim hero status in my story. But the liquid cleaner and the Siding-Jet sprayer are my allies, and without them I would fail at doing it safely myself.
I assemble my sprayer at my home in Oregon.
